In continuation of our 10th Anniversary celebration of Suzan Lauder’s Alias Thomas Bennet, Meryton Press is releasing the Spanish edition of the book. It is translated by one of our own authors, Belén Paccagnella.
Before Belén became part of the Meryton Press family, she was reading and enjoying Jane Austen variations, as she mentions in her notes below. One of those books was Alias Thomas Bennet by Suzan Lauder. Suzan kept a lovely statement that Belén once made about her book.
“It’s a beautiful story, full of love, intrigue, friendship and with some very touching moments”
This interesting side-story needed to be shared. When Belén penned those words, she didn’t know that she would become a Meryton Press author herself. At that time, she probably never dreamed she would be translating and especially, the very book she loved! That dream would come later.
Everyone at Meryton Press is proud of you, Belén, and the job you have done. Your eagerness and professionalism are contagious! Thank you!
Suzan Lauder, your first published novel is much loved by many readers and a favorite for many of us. Thank you for sharing it with the world.
Many thanks to the publisher for making the dreams of these two ladies, and the wishes of many readers, come true with the Spanish Edition of Alias Thomas Bennet.
From the Translator
As a writer and avid reader of Jane Austen fanfic in English for years, I’ve been wanting to venture into the world of translations of variations of Pride and Prejudice for some time. Not only to write and read in my native language, my desire was also to bring to Spanish-speaking readers the countless stories based on Jane Austen’s novels that currently exist.
Although other authors/publishers had ventured to do it before, now, with the growing interest in this type of literature in Spanish, I felt it was finally time to do it. And what better than to start with the publisher that has worked with me for years and has published two of my novels?
When Meryton Press asked me to translate Suzan Lauder’s Alias Thomas Bennet for its 10th Anniversary Special Edition, I was ecstatic. Not only was I able to fulfill my dream but I also had the opportunity to translate this wonderful bestselling story that, 10 years after its original publication, still remains popular and beloved by its readers.
I must thank Suzan for trusting me with the translation and the excellent team of professionals at Meryton Press for finally undertaking this feat and allowing me to be a part of it. I know it’s a huge step into the unknown for them, and my best wishes for success.
Merry Christmas to all!

I always had hopes of having my books in Spanish, and to have Belén translate my first book baby for me is a wish come true. I live 5 months of the year in Mexico, and now my neighbours can read one of my novels. I’m thrilled to be a part of today’s release of this Special Anniversary Edition’s Edición en español for the readers out there who would like to read this book in their own language. Thank you, Belén, and thank you, Meryton Press!
