For me, Darcy is steadfast, loyal, and sweet. Pretty much what everyone thinks of him, really. And I don’t really have a specific actor in mind whenever I think of Mr. Darcy, but recently I can’t help but think of Henry Cavill. He’s so dapper and handsome and tall!

And I love what you said about your Mr. Darcy always being Fitzwilliam Darcy, whether in modern or historical setting. Modern-day books that use Mr. Darcy’s real name get extra points from me just for it, to be honest.

Nissa, 3 great qualities to add on there! Love it! And so glad you agree with the Fitzwilliam, I love it! Thanks for commenting!

This is why I’ve loved Darcy in all of your stories, Amy – you see him the same way I do. Nice choice of pic!

Yes I could see him as Darcy (if I didn’t already have my images fixed in my mind)
I must admit I don’t object to studying tall dark handsome men so keep up the great work 😊😍

Haha! Tough work but someone has to do it, right?
      Thank you Gynis!

This is why I LOVE you, lady!! This has been “My Darcy” for a very long time too!!

Now I know another reason that I LOVE your stories. We’re both dreaming of the same smokin-hot guy!! LOL!! This is the only other man that can even get me to ever think, “Colin, who?” Tall, dark, handsome order indeed!!

Great post and thanks for sharing!!! Love ya!!

So true! And for myself, particularly when I am reading a modern adaptation, Colin brings to mind the infamous reindeer sweater LOL! JFK Jr would NOT be sporting a reindeer sweater 😉

      Thank you Claudine!

I agree with your assessment of his character but have not found any real person that matches what I think Mr. Darcy looks like in my head.

Beth I agree with you 100% — we all sort of have our own Darcys don’t we? Part of what makes it so fun!
      Thank you!

I agree with the characteristics you listed, Amy. For me the first image I always think of for Darcy is Colin Firth. Maybe that is because the 1995 movie on TV was what brought Jane Austen’s books to my notice. There are several others that I have even pinned to Pinterest boards, i.e., David Gandy and Jamie Dornan, who could play the part if another version of P&P were ever filmed. When I look at a man I notice his eyes first of all. I won’t say what is the second thing…not in the gutter, ladies! Looking forward to your next book.

Team Colin all the way Sheila! He’s definitely my favorite actor Darcy but when I write its a bit more nebulous for sure! I like eyes too and good hair!

      Thank you!

The Best Part of Love is actually one of the few books I’ve Re-read. Amy’s chemistry between ODC was fantastic. Loved little Henry.

Interesting to consider JFK Jr as Darcy. The coloring certainly works!

Amy, I almost chose JFK Jr. when I was casting my unpublished Studio 54, but I went with an actor from the era (Christopher Reeve). When I saw the photo here today, I thought to myself, that’s the faceless Darcy we all look for! Thanks!

Christopher Reeves is actually a super awesome Darcy! One that is not often brought to the fore! But yeah JFK Jr is always in the back of my mind… a couple of others too. I think my Darcy is really an amalgam!

I love your Mr. Darcy, Amy! I can relate, sometimes I don’t always have a clear vision of Darcy. I love it when Darcy has a sense of humor that he only shares with a select few, making it all the more special when he does share it.

I’m a firm believer that Darcy had a sense of humor, because I think that is part of what attracted him to Elizabeth! It might have been out of practice a bit, but for sure I think it was in there!

    Thanks Meredith!

JFK Jr. 😍 He is very much a real life Darcy. I second Claudine’s comment. Love your stories. I can’t get enough of them, especially with Viscount Saye…
